A whiny morning, according to the nurse. She says Olin has been awake and complaining since about 3:30 AM. I think I’m glad I was off somewhere else, sleeping. Yay for 24 hour 1-to-1 nursing care, so I don’t have to listen to it all the time.
Anyway, it is sounding like they may try to kick us out, today. I’m not totally happy with that, as yesterday at least the Tylenol wasn’t controlling his pain completely, and we couldn’t hold him in any position but sitting perfectly upright on a lap. (That will make trying to carry him anywhere a bit of a logistics nightmare.)
He is off doing a chest X-ray right now, and they may push his echo up to today sometime, as well. He’ll be sedated for that, and that will keep him sleepy most of the day, so we still may not get a clear picture of how he’s doing without pain
meds.
Tim and I are not real comfortable with taking him home, yet, with nothing but tylenol between us and an inconsolable baby. We can’t decide if we’re overreactive first-time parents, or we have a legitimate concern. Maybe it’s just a limited
tolerance for the desperate pain-wail. Ugh. Anyway, I don’t know what will happen with that.
He’s back from radiology, and I got a chance to hold him for awhile… MUCH calmer, now!
