First Day of School… for EVERYONE!

August 23rd was the boys’ first day of second grade. Tuesday, September 6th was the girls’ first day of Head Start. It was a short half-day that parents had to attend along with the kids, and the girls dfirst_day_preschool_090716id really great. Yesterday, I had to work, but today… Today is the first full school day I have ever had that all of my children are at school! There is no one home but me! This is the first day of the rest of my life.

So, of course, I decided that rather than start the new, improved school year off by accomplishing something useful, I would put the boys on the school bus, drive the girls to school, and then come home and sleep for as long as humanly possible. I made it to 9:45AM before my body decided it was awake, whether I wanted it to be or not.

I have a big list of incredibly domestic things to do that can be accomplished so much more easily without any ‘helpers’, but all I really want to do is sit and enjoy the silence… For awhile, at least. I haven’t made much progress on my novel lately, I should work on that. My house is a wreck (as usual). I have errands to run. Instead, I’m writing a blog post… And even that feels good to get accomplished. I managed 230 words (and counting) without any interruptions whatsoever. It has been a long time since that was the case.

I love school.
